The Narrative Institute was founded in 2011 by Dr. David Hall to provide continuing education seminars for psychotherapists wanting to grow in their understanding and practice of narrative-based counseling approaches. It has since expanded to include trainings and resources for individuals in a variety of professions and pursuits who want engage more deeply in their use and understanding of story-craft and narrative theory. In 2019, the Narrative Institute became one of the founding component institutes of PsychMaven

The Narrative Institute provides live workshops and professional clinics, as well on-demand courses through PsychMaven's online school with Teachable. Many of the trainings offered by the Narrative Institute qualify for continuing education for several professional groups
